START YOUR ADVENTURE TODAY
Open Water 20 is our most popular global certification program. You will learn everything you need to know to explore the underwater world to a depth of 20 meters (65 feet) with confidence.
You have always wanted to become a diver. You have seen the documentaries and you ask, can it really be that good? Nothing on earth, nothing you will ever experience, compares to becoming a scuba diver.
From the time you experience the magic of taking your first underwater breathe you'll be hooked. As your RAID instructor teaches you how to float weightless in the water you will know you're preparing for a truly life changing experience
Whether gliding over colorful reef, being surrounded by schools of fish or exploring a wreck from a by-gone era the adventure never stops.
Your training starts online where you will learn all the cool information about learning to scuba. Everything from the equipment you will use, the diving environment, the effects of depth and skills you will learn in Water.
CONFINED WATER / POOL TRAINING
We spend a lot of time in the pool or pool like conditions training at your pace to make you very comfortable before we go to the ocean.
In particular we make sure you learn to control your buoyancy so you can glide through the water with ease.
Open Water Dives
After your pool or confined water sessions, you'll head to "open water", where you and your RAID instructor will make a minimum of four scuba dives, usually over two to three days. You'll apply the skills you learned in the pool as well as having plenty of time for exploring the local dive site.
The RAID Open Water 20 Course takes about 3-4 days depending on local conditions and how much time you need to feel safe and comfortable in the water.
We generally recommend you own at least the essential items like mask, snorkel and fins. Exposure protection may be provided but it is highly recommended to own your exposure equipment. Before you buy make sure you speak to your RAIDdive centre to get the equipment that is right for you. Generally speaking most other items will be provided but make sure you ask.
Your RAID on line course includes all on line training materials which you can access for life. Upon completion your international certification will be issued.
The minimum age is 12 years old (in most areas). Student divers who are younger than 15 earn the RAID Junior Open Water Diver certification, which they may upgrade to RAID Open Water Diver certification upon reaching 15.
You will be required to a complete a dive medical questionnaire. If there are any potential issues you will need to complete a medical from a doctor.
You will need to demonstrate you can swim 200 meters (no time limit) and tread water for 10 minutes .
We proudly teach the RAID academic programs at Unique Scuba. RAID operates at the highest of standards and their program is 100% paperless.
Learn to dive like a fish
Techreational Scuba Training is a modern approach to a decades old education problem. Most beginner programs are designed to teach a large groups of students at the same time. This old approach serves the needs of the dive shop and the instructor more than the needs of the student. By admission, this archaic approach was designed to sell the student extra classes after basic certification. As a result, divers finish their certification without proper confidence or the skills to adequately plan and execute dives safely. This feeling leaves the diver to simply drop out of the sport of scuba.
At Unique Scuba we have embraced a completely different training methodology for beginner programs, and we call it #TechReational Scuba.
Don't be intimidated by the name, while this is not actual Technical training, we embrace the equipment configurations and safety minded practices of the technical community from the very beginning of your development. This is a fun and challenging approach that will leave you wanting to go diving all the time.
